"All vessels under 6 metres in length are now required to carry an EPIRB when operating outside sheltered waters. Sheltered waters are best described as within 2 nautical miles of land on the North and East Coasts as well as the specific areas listed below. This requirement brings smaller vessels, who go offshore, into the same legislative requirements as larger vessels using the same waters who have always been required to carry an EPIRB. Therefore ALL vessels operating outside sheltered waters require an EPIRB.
As a reminder to boaters who may be purchasing an EPIRB, from 1st February 2009, the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system will no longer process the 121.5MHz frequency used by most distress beacons. The distress frequency used will be 406MHz"

The Slam Code One has a specially designed heel for the kind of grip boaters need-it is essentially split into four sections, each one free to move separately from the others. The Tuna Club was born as a result of a meeting held in Hobart on the 17th September 1960, by a group of persons interested in forming a Game Fishing Club.
At that meeting a Sub-Committee was formed, charged with the task of drafting a Constitution, which could be tabled at a later meeting.
The Sub-Committee met on the 24th September 1960 and drew up a recommended form of Constitution.
On the 6th October 1960, at Wrest Point Hotel, the Inaugural Meeting was held attended by about 35 persons. Mr H. H. Smart chaired the meeting, and the Constitution was adopted by those assembled.
